DUMFRIES & Galloway gave me the best possible start – a fantastic education; my first job – and I want others to have that same chance.
Our people are our greatest asset, and we need to offer them the maximum opportunity to stay here in good jobs, raising their families.
To achieve that, I want to back local businesses, and attract investment. Only the Conservatives understand what it takes to help business thrive.
Initiatives such as the new Enhanced Investment Zone, which will cover Northern Ireland and take in the busy ports at Cairnryan, will make doing business here more attractive, and hold out the genuine prospect of jobs and prosperity.
A brake on progress is the A75, our vital traffic artery, too long ignored by the SNP at Holyrood. The Conservatives alone have recognised its importance for the UK as a whole, and for all of us here in Dumfries & Galloway.
There’s UK money on the table for improvements, and foot-dragging from the SNP must end – we need improvements fast.
During my time as the editor of a local paper in the west of the region, I campaigned for better healthcare.
NHS staff do an incredible job, but a rural region poses particular issues. We need to look at reopening cottage hospitals so that care can be delivered closer to home.
As I travel across Dumfries & Galloway, the message is clear. People want rapid action on real-world issues, not more pointless agitation for independence.
Glorious Dumfries & Galloway needs an MP who understands that rural Scotland has many challenges – and many opportunities.
If elected, I will spend every waking hour tackling those challenges, and capitalising on those opportunities.
Your priorities are my priorities. Together, let’s move Dumfries & Galloway forward.
